Joel DaSilva & the Midnight Howl
Using Chicago and Florida as home bases, this traveling, genre-hopping roots rocker is calling the road home these last few months. Fresh from an Alamo Blue Monday show, Joel and the boys made a run to Canada last Sunday and now are working back south. With Joel manning the singing, writing and guitar slinging, The Midnight Howl includes Johnny Doe (drums, vocals) and Captain Bassman (bass, vocals) revving up the high-energy show. “I’d rather be doing this than anything,” Joel reported while driving to Wisconsin a few weeks ago. “You wake up early, haul equipment, set everything up and then when you see some smiling face in the crowd, real into the music, you know you’re okay and in the right place.” After a recent gig at Buddy Guy’s in Chicago, Joel received the highest compliment from Buddy – an offer to play his place anytime. DaSilva is flying high everywhere he and his band goes, making fans, taking names, singing songs and bringing down the house with a fiery brand of good, old American-made, blues-based music.
