Editors Note 6/1/17

If you are like me and Trump and Rauner are about to get you down, it’s time to dig in the dirt and put some seeds in the ground. “When the world wearies and ceases to satisfy, there is always the garden,” is the quotation I have on my wall. It’s a little late for many crops, due to all the rain, but many seeds, and tomato plants, don’t care. There are always weeds to hoe. Working outdoors on long mild evenings restores the soul. Soon it will be hot, the bugs and weeds will start to win, and I’ll get back to other problems I can’t solve. The corollary is also on my wall: “When the garden wearies and ceases to satisfy, there is always the world.” –Fletcher Farrar, editor and publisher
