easter hunts poem #1

easter hunts poem #1

authentic thrills do not come often
nor are they oft forgot: one from my
early years, the easter bunny hid
tiny candy bunnies all over the house
we four kids searched with squeals
of delight at each discovery I peeked
behind the door of my room and here
lay a whole cardboard box with some
thirty of the precious prey scattered
on the bottom – apparently the bunny
dad had given up on hiding and I was
the gasping recipient a friend told me
they had egg hunts in the yard for
their kids with also a hunt by the
family dog for doggie treats left by
the easter beagle they gave this up
though after finding their youngest
beating out the rightful recipient and
gobbling the canine sweets by handfuls
