Springfield-based Armored Angels, Inc. will host the “Fighting for Women Medieval Sword Workshop” on Saturday morning, July 28. The fundraising workshop will include training from Chicago martial arts studio Forteza Fitness, with practice swords and other equipment provided. Armored Angels sells angel-themed products, with profits going towards helping domestic violence survivors via monetary grants. The company’s founder, Diana Cherry, is also currently teaching a class called “I Can Relate,” aimed at fostering healthy relationships and nonviolent communication, as part of Lincoln Land Community College’s “College for Kids” summer session. The sword workshop will be held from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, July 28, at Dance Creations, 1401 E Cottonwood in Springfield. Cost is $55 for adults, $30 for kids 10-18.
