Bring artifacts for identification by ISM staff and experts
Do you have an artifact at home that you’d like to learn more about? Bring it to the Illinois State Museum on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 1-3 p.m. for identification by Illinois State Museum staff and other experts. Objects open to identification include art, antiques, anthropological artifacts, rocks, minerals, fossils and bones. No live animals are allowed, and organic matter must remain outside the museum. Artifacts will be identified only; no appraisals will be given, and only one object may be able to be identified per person due to time constraints. This event will also feature a variety of local collectors displaying their best objects and sharing stories about those items. This event is held in conjunction with the Illinois State Museum’s “Bicentennial and Beyond: The Illinois Legacy Collection” exhibition, on display through Feb. 3, 2019.
