Molly Schlich Independent and International Film Series

The Chilean film, A Fantastic Woman, is the first film of the 2019 Molly Schlich Independent and International Film Series presented by the Springfield Art Association (SAA) beginning Sunday, Jan. 13. The 2017 film, directed by Sebastián Lelio and written by Lelio and Gonzalo Maza, won an academy award for Best Foreign Language Film. It shows the challenges of a transgender woman’s life after her partner’s death. The film series has been entertaining and challenging movie lovers for over 25 years by bringing independent and international films to Springfield. Proceeds from the series benefit the Michael Victor II Art Library. All films of the series are shown at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sundays, and again on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Single tickets are $8 ($4 for students with ID) and are available at the door. Season passes are $50 for nonmembers or $45 for early bird members and can be purchased on the SAA website. For more information, visit springfieldart.org or call 523-2631.
