Formed in 2014 by a group of well-seasoned Peoria-area musicians, Captain Quirk (the moniker comes from a nickname for William Shatner, the actor who portrayed Captain Kirk in the original “Star Trek” TV show) plays all around central Illinois doing off-the-wall, cool covers and differently done classic rock standards. They specifically and only do “songs that we enjoy playing” and they do them “passionately and with soul.” That is a good thing, and quite obvious, when seeing the guys perform. The list of groups previously played in by bandmates, Jeff Brockamp (guitars, vocals), Kevin Smith (guitars, vocals), Steve Correll (drums, vocals), Bret Johnson (bass, vocals) and Jeff Logsdon (keyboards, guitars, banjo, mandolin) rivals the number of times Spock raised an eyebrow at the captain on the bridge of the U.S.S Enterprise. And they take all those experiences to create good energy, with each member finding a niche and doing it well, for all the right reasons, every time these talented and caring musicians hit the stage.
