Connecting teens with opportunities and services
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois, in partnership with the City of Springfield and the Sangamon County Juvenile Justice Council, is hosting its 4th Annual Teen Job Fair and Resource Expo at The Boys & Girls Club’s Central Unit. According to Dan Wright, chair of the Sangamon County Juvenile Justice Council, the event will help connect local teens with year-round and summer opportunities including employment, camps and recreational services. Job seekers will get help filling out job applications, may receive on-the-spot interviews and have a chance to enter multiple prize drawings. The event features many local employers and youth service organizations. Tiffany Mathis of the Boy & Girls Clubs says that the job fair and resource expo is a one-stop shop for teens and past events have received positive feedback from both employers and area youth who attended. The event is free to attend and geared toward teenagers ages 16-19 who are seeking employment or volunteer opportunities. Parents are also welcome to accompany their teen participant.
