    Dave Cox, Lincoln Land Community College professor of biology, and members of the Prairie State and Lincoln Land Beekeepers Associations will demonstrate the process of honey extraction from beehives at LLCC’s West Lake Nature Grove, 2321 West Lake Shore Drive, Springfield, on Tuesday, Sept. 10, starting at 9:30 am. The event is free and open to the public. The process will begin with honey super removal from the apiary at West Lake Nature Grove. Participants are encouraged to wear protective gear. At a minimum, long pants and a long-sleeved shirt are required. 217-786-2200

The home is interpreted to 1857 and furnished with wonderful examples of Victorian furniture, including many pieces that belonged to the Edwards family. See the authentic "Lincoln Courting Couch" from the parlor of the Ninian Edwards home where Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd were married and a piano that was likely played at their wedding.
