    Performance with traditional Indian string instruments, the veena (7 strings) and the santoor (93 strings), played by the world renowned Indian-American Nirmala Rajasekar and Indian, Sandeep Chaterjee, a rich and accomplished Santoor player of our time. Celebrating the Indian music tradition, the string players will be joined by Thanjavur K. Murugaboopathi on the Mridangam drum and Ramdas Palsule on the Tabla drums.     The José Gobbo Trio will celebrate João Gilberto, a Brazilian guitarist, singer and composer who was a pioneer of the musical genre of bossa nova in the late 1950s. Gilberto died in 2019, but around the world he was often called the "father of bossa nova." In his native Brazil, he was referred to as "The Legend.” Gilberto's style combined traditional elements of samba with more contemporary jazz.Enjoy a wonderful evening of jazz celebrating João with the Jose Gobbo Trio. They educate and inform participants about dementia and help participants develop methods and skills to solve problems.     Lincoln Land Community College is featuring select works from the college’s permanent collection through Nov. 1. The exhibit can be viewed in the Trutter Museum/Murray Gallery, located in Menard Hall. Over the years, the LLCC’s permanent collection has expanded to include artwork created by students and faculty, pieces purchased by the college and generous donations.
