Illinois at Guntown

Free

Join ALPLM Manuscripts Curator Christopher Schnell in exploring letters, reminiscences, and battlefield relics of Illinois soldiers who fought at the Battle of Brice's Cross Roads (a.k.a. Battle of Guntown).
On June 10, 1864, a small Union force clashed with Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest’s cavalry at the crossroads near Guntown, Miss. This relatively small battle played an important role in the Union success in Georgia. Moe than one-third of the Union soldiers at Guntown hailed from Illinois.
This is a “hybrid” event with opportunities to attend in-person or virtually.
Tales from the Vault is an ALPLM/ISM collaboration.
