Monk was an American jazz pianist and composer. During the 1970s he, along with Dizzie Gillespie and others was a member of well-known The Giants of Jazz. Monk was one of the greats because of his unique improvisational style and for the numerous contributions he made to standard jazz. Gobbo is a well-known and an accomplished jazz musician who, along with equally accomplished Mark Tonelli, curate The Art of Jazz and arrange the program's performance on the second Thursday of each month.
