The Pied Piper of kids

RILEY GRAHAM SEVERNS Nov. 3, 1997-Aug. 10, 2013

RILEY GRAHAM SEVERNS
Beloved son of Richard and Dana Severns of Rochester, Riley Severns, from the moment he set foot on this earthly blue sphere on Nov. 3, 1997, until his departure for his heavenly palace on Aug. 10, 2013, this young man lived life on his own terms. That generally meant full speed ahead. His family knew from the start that they had a unique individual in their midst. He challenged us to be better people. The world was a very interesting place through Riley’s eyes. Those who were blessed to have been touched by Riley in their lives would tell you there was none quiet like him. Like Charlotte said of the infamous pig Wilbur – Riley was some kid!

Riley was the Pied Piper of kids. Peers just gravitated toward his infectious spirit and were pulled in by his awesomeness. What was important to Riley was that he was your friend. He once wore a shirt that said: “I made dirt look good.” Indeed he did. Riley would have invited one and all into that dirt box with him to help you make a sand castle, to bury you or him in the dirt or just to help you make some good ole-fashioned mud pies. If you were blessed to be in his presence you knew a good time was most certainly guaranteed.

Riley’s family is constantly amazed by the number of lives he touched during his time on this earth. His friends have expressed to family members how Riley’s presence in their lives brought Jesus into their hearts, and how he invited them to have a personal relationship with God. You shall not be forgotten Riley, forever holding you close in our hearts. What a glorious impact one life can make, blazing toward the Son. Rest in peace … stay shibby buddy! –Deb Selby, aunt
