listening to the milk house hum
below me clanging of pipes steam
brawling into water and once in a
while a shout above the hubbub.
A dickcissel is whistling without.
Fifteen boys will be here at 8 am
to detassel. Did you know about
the new Ladies Lounge? 144' by 40'
on west side of cow yard. Makes
one almost want to be a cow. No
stress – no strain – no racial tension.
Just One World. Erv's been shingling
it, says it's like peeing in the ocean."
