Musical chronicling Springfield's favorite couple returns

This musical about Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln will return to the Hoogland Center for the Arts for a second season. The Lincolns of Springfield was the culmination of a dream for creators Terrence and Rebecca Powers Cranert, who moved to Springfield from California. According to the Cranerts, the musical tells the story of "how a backwoods genius and a southern belle – the most unlikely of couples – met, fell in love, were married and became America's first power couple (and) who then freed a people and saved our country." The musical is a heartwarming saga, described as "an emotional expedition that will resonate deeply, with melodies that promise to inspire, move and linger long after the curtain falls." It features professional Broadway actors, actresses and directors. Tickets range from $25 to $39. Civil War cosplayers and re-enactors are welcome to attend the show wearing their period attire.
